Jay'cyn was
built from a GI Joe 25th Aniversary Scarlett action figure. Like Angel,
I angled the neck back, and modified the mid torso
joint to stand up straighter. She also has the arms and legs from
"Fred"
the comic two pack Crimson Gaurd.
This one was nearly done, by the time I
got any pictures taken of it. I opened up the leg holes, to accept the
Crimson Gaurdsman legs. I also spent a coule of days opening up the
shoulders to make room for the CG arms, then realized that it looked
horrible, that way. The shoulders were filled back in with Kneadatite,
and I grafted Scarlett's shoulders into the CG upper arms. Pins made
from brass rod, were used to help secure the glued joint. I also flared
out her hips, to better match the new legs, and molded in the new bits
of her clothes.
This was also when I decied that I really didn't like the way that
Sterling SMG was poking out of her leg gun loop.

I finally decided how I wanted to make
her arm armor, and finished painting her. The gun is one of Marauder's
UMP rifles. Unfortunately, the UMP's butt stock is far too long for
most figures to shoulder fire it. I eventually plan to repalce it with
an FN SCAR-H. No sense in her having two pistol calibre guns.
I still hadn't found a good solution to the Sterling on her leg.

Same pose as before, but now you get to see her sniper
rifle. This thing is pretty impressive, in person. Despite the small
scale, it still looks like something that will do some serious damage.
I read an article a few years ago that included some comments troops
had made about some of the weapons currently being used. Some of the
reports about the .50 cal sniper rifles sounded like things out of an
action movie.
Mind you, a .50 calibre anything
is bound to seriously mess somebody up.
The green thing is a spotter's scope. Realistically, if you've got
somebody sniping from a distance, they need a spotter. A good spotter
can give their sniper exactly the information they need to put lead on
target.

I never liked the way the Sterling looked, in Jay'cyn's
leg loop. For the record, that loop didn't work very well for holding
the Crimson Gaurd's revolver, either.
The straps are thin strips of electrical tape, with the adhesive
cleaned off. The hardware to hold it to the straps are jewelery
hardware. The ring holding the straps to each other is just a simple
jump ring. The flat loop on the back of the gun, is an eye pin with the
eye reshaped.
|
The sling is a little overly complex,
for just a single point sling. I generally try to shy away from straps
running diagonally across women's chests, because I always imagined
it's probably not real comfortable.
|
Here she is finished, with her Scar-H
rifle. The thin black boxes on her leg are extra magazines for the
SCAR. I wound up gluing the scope and laser sight to the gun. The scope
got glued on, because I somehow managed to break its mounting peg. I'm
not sure how I swung that one, as these modular components have held up
my clutzy fingers, before. The laser sight got glued in, because I
drilled new mounting holes for it, that move it back just a little bit
from the stock position. In the stock location, Jay'cyn's left arm
fully straight, to grab the forward grip. This looked really awkward to
me, so I moved the sight and grip back a couple of notches on the
molded in picadilly rails. The sight wasn't sitting well in the holes I
drilled, so I just glued it place. I was having trouble with her hand
angles causing it to come loose from rifle, anyway.
I also redid her gun sling, out thicker material. I think I need to
sand it, to ake the sheen off of it.
|
Ths gives a better look at her new
sling. The connecting strap across the back is still made from a stip
of electrical tape, but I cut it wider. The strip that connects to the
gun, is the original one.
You can also see some of the drybrushing I did on her hair. The leather
strip that Jay'cyn has traditionally pulled her hair back with is made
from a piece of brown thread. It really is tied around the base of the
pony tail. That was first time I'd ever tried to tie anything, with
tweezers. I pulled the thread dowm to simulate the effects of gravity,
and placed a dab of super glue on the knot.
|
Better view of the back of the sling, and the wide
connecting strap.

Jay'cyn taking aim, with her .50 calibre rifle. I've
come to find out that these are classified as "Anti Materials Weapons."
Something to do with being able to punch holes in armor, from a mile
away. ;)

I know I've had her in a better sniping pose than this,
before. But this was the best I could manage, when I was taking these
pictures.

Jay'cyn
Sniper
Primary Weapon: .50 cal Sniper Rifle
Secondary Weapon: FN SCAR-H
Automatic Rifle. (fiitted with modified nightvision scope that can
detect Technothrope bio-electrical signatures)
Backup Weapon: Britanic Empire L2
Sterling Sub Machine Gun (from Jay'cyn's native universe)
Other Weapons: none
Jay'cyn left schooling that could have led to a lucrative career in the
magic business, on her world, to go fight the Technothropes. For
centuries, wizards, viseers, and sorceresses have stood back, letting
ordinary die fighting against the Technothropes. Jay'cyn decided that
she wanted no part of that. When Raridan gave her the chance to prevent
the misfortunes that had befallen her world from happeing on other
Earths, she jumped at the chance. She's hoping she'll learn or discover
something to finally drive the "Thropes" from her own world.
